Comets Alumni President at the 2013 CPS New Parents Wine and Cheese

Last Friday, August 16th, as President of the Comets Alumni Association, and in your collective representation, I had the honor to attend the CPS New Parents Wine & Cheese held at the Wine Cellar at Plaza Provision in Puerto Rico, whose CEO is Mr. Robert Cimino, one of our Comets. It was a fine event coordinated and hosted by Jo Ann Aranguren, who in addition to being the CPS Director of the Alumni Affairs, is also the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid.  Jo Ann was assisted by her secretary Maria Vidal, who is also the proud parent of a CPS Alum and has been with our school for many years.

Attendees consisted of the new Headmaster, Mr. Thomas Quinn, CPS Board Members, Parent’s Association members, Administration, Faculty and Alumni, who all had the opportunity to meet and share with the new coming CPS parents and welcome them to our school.

All present were addressed and warmly welcomed by Mrs. Aranguren, Mr. Quinn and Mrs. Castiel, who presides the CPS Parents Association. Furthermore, in true honor and merit to our beloved school, the final greeting was delivered by alumna Gabriella Acebal, Class of 2012 (who just completed her Freshman year at Boston College), who so proud and eloquently made note and emphasis of what CPS has done for her life, means to her, and stressed that much of what she is today she owes to Commonwealth-Parkville School. Sounds familiar doesn't it? She ended her address by ensuring the new parents that they had made the right decision by enrolling their children in CPS. Her closing statement was replied by a generous applause by all attendees.

It seems that through the years our Alma Mater has proven with consistency it’s deliverance of young men and women that hold promise and light to a needed and better future. These are the grains of sand that makes us a whole; the same ones, like you and I, which make us the Comets we are meant and should always continue to be.

It is with joy we welcome with open arms these new families that have entrusted our school to help mold and educate their children to light up the sky. We welcome these new Comets, we welcome you to your new home… the Home of the Comets.
