Commonwealth-Parkville School (CPS) is proud to have two full-time licensed Clinical Psychologists supporting the emotional well-being and personal growth of our students: Dr. Mercedes Morris – Parkville Campus (Grades PPK–6) and Dr. Michelle Cabán – Commonwealth Campus (Grades 7–12).

Dr. Morris holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Georgia and both a Master’s and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Caribbean Center for Advanced Studies in San Juan. She has provided psychological services at CPS for over 30 years, ensuring the continuity of care and support from early childhood. Dr. Morris focuses on Elementary School students, working closely with parents, faculty, and staff to address key areas such as individual and group counseling, teacher consultation, crisis intervention, parent-teacher conferences, and referrals to community agencies for medical, vocational, or psychological services when needed.

At the Commonwealth Campus, Dr. Cabán serves our middle and high school students. She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras and is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience in higher education, counseling, and student wellness. Before joining CPS, she taught and coordinated programs at both the University of Puerto Rico and Universidad Central del Caribe with emphasis on clinical practice, student support, and community education in areas such as behavioral health, wellness, and human development. She also teams up with the CPS College and Guidance Counselor to further strengthen the resources available to our students.
Both Dr. Morris and Dr. Cabán handle all matters with the utmost confidentiality, prioritizing the safety and well-being of CPS students and staff while fostering a supportive environment where every student is nurtured academically, socially, and emotionally.
Dedicated to helping each child reach their full potential, CPS phycologists remain active in their professional development engaging in continuous learning attending workshops, conferences and maintaining membership in professional organizations such as the American Psychological Association, American Counseling Association, and the Asociación de Psicólogos de Puerto Rico.
