Elementary School

Our Elementary School is composed of two levels: Lower Elementary (Grades PPK-2) and Upper Elementary (Grades 3-6).   One of the main goals of the Lower Elementary level is to provide a caring, safe, fun, and challenging environment for all of our students. All the areas of the child's growth are given the same importance in order to help shape well-rounded individuals.  CPS promotes an active learning environment which creates an engaging learning experience. Creativity plays a very important role in the planning of the lessons; it is modeled by the teachers and developed through the students’ performance. We foster the formation of values in our students which are supported by the nationwide program, Character Counts.

The Upper Elementary program is composed of students in grades 3rd - 6th and ranging in ages from 8-12 years old. At CPS we believe in educating the "whole child" by offering a wide variety of non-academic classes that include art, computer, dance, music and physical education in addition to rigorous academic courses.

CPS employs Project Based Learning (PBL), where the library plays a key role in the development of the projects by offering guidance and a vast amount mainly gathered via CPS array of databases. Field trips that broaden the learning experiences of the students, take place in all Upper Elementary grades.  Laptop computers are provided for the 5th and 6th grade students and used in all academic classes.
