1990-1999: TRANSFORMATIONAL INITIATIVES

In 1990, the school adopted a new umbrella name, Caribbean Preparatory School, or CPS, to reflect its identity as one unified institution on two campuses. The name change was more than cosmetic. It signaled a period of serious institutional growth and self-examination.

Throughout the decade, CPS built out its administrative structure, adding positions that had not previously existed: dean of students, school psychologist, educational technology coordinator, school nurse, academic dean, director of development, and director of alumni. Every part of the school community was reviewed and evaluated, with changes guided by planning processes and available resources. Beginning in 1997, CPS adopted a new accreditation framework through the Middle States Association, Accreditation for Growth (AFG), which became the foundation for continuous planning, peer review, and a sustained focus on student outcomes.

Physical facilities received significant attention as well. Between 1997 and 1999, the Parkville Campus underwent major construction, including a new cafetorium, library, and classroom complex, along with an ADA-compliant elevator and fine arts center.
