CPS 5k Run or Walk

CPS 5K  -  A RESOUNDING SUCCESS!
CPS celebrated its first Comets 5k event on Saturday, October 28, 2023, to a full house. Despite the challenge of rain the day before, which initially raised concerns, the race—capped at 750 participants—persevered, drawing nearly 600 runners and walkers of all ages for its inaugural run.

The first-ever Comets 5k was spearheaded by María A. Villarejo, Director of Development and Alumni Relations, along with the 5k Committee. This committee consisted of members from CPS, the Board of Directors, and the Parent Association. Participants included CPS families, faculty, staff, alumni, friends of CPS, and individuals from the broader community. The event attracted highly competitive runners from both CPS and beyond. Representatives from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico also contributed to the event, adding to its vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.

The event was adorned with a colorful array of costumes "comparsas" ranging from superheroes and police officers to cartoon characters.  As the race unfolded, the vibrant mix of funk, rock, and reggae, played by the Almas Band, filled the air.
THE GRAND PRIZE

We are thrilled to announce that #CometMom Yasmín Pedrogo wothe grand prize motorcycle draw. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous sponsor, Motor Sports, for donating the incredible motorcycle prize. Their support and contribution made our 5K event even more special and successful.

CPS 5k - A COLLECTIVE TRIUMPH!
The essence of the event resided in the collective support for a common cause, where the true victory belonged to everyone involved, from the enthusiastic participants to the organizers, the school, and the Boys and Girls Club.

Among the participants, Héctor Santiago, a proud CPS Class of 2017 graduate, delivered an admirable performance, finishing in excellent time. His participation was a testament to the spirit of the Comet community, echoing the sense of pride and unity felt by all involved. Similarly, Jandiel Allende from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico made a notable impact as well. His achievement highlighted the joint effort to support essential programs for community betterment.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
The success of the Comets 5k wouldn't have been possible without the generous support of sponsors, the unwavering dedication of the CPS 5k Committee, volunteers, and the hard work of the CPS faculty and staff. The entire community came together to ensure the event ran smoothly and made a lasting impression. Above all, it was the Comet community that truly shone on this special day. Friends and family cheered for their loved ones, alumni reminisced on old memories, and newcomers felt the warmth of the CPS community.
