CPS Forensics Team Brings Home 6 Trophies - Highest Award 2nd Place Humor, Mario Marqués-Class of 2015

After a refreshing retreat filled with yoga and the inspiring ambiance of Old San Juan, the Commonwealth Forensic Team was ready for a long day of competing. The Category A English Forensic League Competition was held on April 25, 2015 at Academia Nuestra Señora de La Providencia in Cupey. Students, parents, and moderators arrived promptly at 6:45 AM to begin the exciting day.  Students showcased their talent and dedication against 7 other schools in the league.

The competition consisted of 4 different categories: humor, drama, oratory, and original. For each category, students must memorize their pieces and perform using only a chair for a prop. CPS is extremely proud of its Forensic Team and their incredible performances that day.  CPS placed 4th overall in the competition, remained in category A --the most competitive level--and six of our Forensic Team members made it to finals and took home the following trophies: 
  • Mario Marqués, class of 2015 - 2nd place Humor Category
  • Paola Jiménez, class of 2016 -  6th place Drama Category
  • Ana Melero, class of 2017  - 7th place Oratory Category
  • Joseph Spir, class of 2017   - 8th place Oratory Category
  • Mariana Camacho, class of 2015  - 9th place Oratory Category
  • Cecille Forsyth, class of 2015  - 8th place Original Category
Our team received many compliments throughout the day.  Actually, the league was so impressed with our team that they invited its moderator, CPS faculty member Laura Kniffen, to serve asSecretary on the board. Congratulations to our team and their mentor Ms. Laura Kniffen for a job well done!
