Carlos Barsy, CHS School Psychologist

PSYCHOLOGIST

Carlos has a BA in Social Psychology and an MA in Counseling Psychology.  Since 2005 he has been working with children, adolescents, adults and families in his private practice.  In his first years, he worked in an interdisciplinary mental health clinic, providing psychotherapy to psychiatric patients with severe mental health illnesses.  Eventually he worked for a nonprofit organization, Familias Capaces Inc., providing community based psychological services inside public housing projects.

Since 2006, he provides services to Puerto Rico Youth at Risk, Inc., another nonprofit organization that develops programs designed to prevent school desertion and drug abuse in adolescents from low income communities.

A meditation practitioner, he promotes the therapeutic value of contemplation, the internal resolve or willingness to rest the mind from the process of thinking.  His favorite way of doing it is by means of communion with nature.  Carlos plays a wide variety of ethic flutes from around the world and a selection of instruments that assist the process of relaxation.  He specializes in music therapy relaxation techniques.
